The History of Mnarani Beach Cottages
– Nassor El Mahruki first had the idea of building a small family guest house near Nungwi’s light house with access to the beautiful beach. In those early days, Nungwi was still quite untouched by tourism; the village didn’t even have electricity! The first guests who stayed said: “It’s beautiful, but there’s nowhere to eat!”
– The restaurant and bar overlooking the Indian Ocean were built and the site expanded to include more cottages to accommodate a maximum of 24 guests.
– Mains electricity was connected for the first time in the North of the island.
– The reception area was built.
– Mahaba Cottage, the honeymoon hideaway was erected.
– The Superior Rooms were constructed.
– Zanzibar House was built.
– The swimming pool was finished.
– The “Fisherman House” came online.
– In November 2016 Mnarani celebrated its 20th anniversary. It was among of the first hotel ever built in Nungwi and we are proud that it is still open today.
We continually improve Mnarani’s facilities, using ideas from both visitors and staff, to offer you the very best of comfort, service and atmosphere. Check back to see what’s new in the coming years.
